this sch 80 pvc hose barb is used commonly on the supply or suction side of a 3-6 gpm pump on the 1"" 80 mesh filter with non-collapsible suction hose (agc16), and stainless steel hose clamps.  you need three of these for an installation of a water filter on the suction/supply side of the pump.
